Lisbon, OH — The Columbiana County 4-H community is preparing for its annual Project Showcase Judging, taking place on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Commercial Building on the Columbiana County Fairgrounds. This event provides youth participants the opportunity to present their 4-H project work and receive recognition for their efforts. Judging will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and no pre-registration is required—participants may arrive at any time during that window.

This year’s showcase includes updated procedures designed to better serve the needs and interests of all 4-H members.

Two Participation Options for 2025

Youth enrolled in a 4-H project may choose from two options based on their goals:

  1. Book Review Only (Non-Competitive Option):
Members not seeking county awards or State Fair selection are required to submit their completed project book during the showcase. These books will be reviewed for completeness, and no interview is required. Once reviewed, project completion will be documented by the OSU Extension Office.

  2. Interview Judging (Competitive Option):
Members wishing to be considered for county awards or State Fair participation must complete an in-person interview with a project judge. Youth will be matched with a judge based on the project category—such as Healthy Living, STEM, Natural Resources, or Workforce Development—and must bring all required presentation materials, which may include books, binders, or posters.

Awards Ceremony – July 10 at 6:00 p.m.

The 4-H Project Showcase Awards Ceremony will be held the following evening, Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Commercial Building on the Columbiana County Fairgrounds. This event will recognize members who earned county awards and announce those selected to advance to the Ohio State Fair. Families and friends are encouraged to attend and celebrate the achievements of our local 4-H youth.

The Project Showcase is a key event in the 4-H year, providing a platform for young people to demonstrate their skills, hard work, and personal development. The Columbiana County 4-H team and OSU Extension staff are proud to support youth as they grow into confident leaders and lifelong learners.
